Short film THERAPY

by Pinar Binay

Consulting Sessions for your short film!

As a seasoned creative producer with over 25 short films under my belt—including an Oscar-longlisted project and films featured at top-tier festivals such as SXSW, Hollyshorts, and Urbanworld—I am launching a consulting business tailored specifically to short filmmakers.

My goal is to guide emerging and independent creators through the nuanced and often daunting process of short film development, production, and festival circuit.

We all know the value of therapy—for our lives, our relationships, our mental health. Why shouldn’t our creative projects get the same care?

This consulting service is built on that belief. It’s a space for filmmakers to process, plan, and problem-solve—with a dedicated creative sounding board by your side. This is your weekly hour to be fully seen in your process.

I offer three levels of engagement based on your needs and budget—each one designed to give you thoughtful, personalized support.

Whether you're creating your first short or navigating the festival circuit, this is about helping you move forward—with clarity, confidence, and care.

TIER I: DROP-IN SESSION

Best for filmmakers who want quick, actionable insight without an ongoing commitment

(1 hour or 90 minutes)

  • Like a one-time drop-in to the creative doctor’s office.

  • You bring one topic—festival plan, budget, team dynamics, script concerns—and we focus on that together.

    • No prep or project required

    • I listen, ask questions, offer feedback and clarity

    • Great for a creative reset or gut check

TIER II: WEEKLY SESSIONS

Best for those who want consistent support and a creative sounding board

  • Your standing creative therapy hour. Each week is a space to talk through whatever’s most pressing—script development, imposter syndrome, planning stress, feedback overwhelm, or how to move forward with confidence.

    • You send materials ahead of time (script, cut, deck, etc.)

    • I come prepped with thoughtful notes, strategy, and perspective

    • Flexible, filmmaker-led conversations that evolve with your project

TIER III: CREATIVE CARE PLAN

Best for filmmakers who want someone in the trenches with them throughout the journey

  • For filmmakers looking for full-spectrum support across development, production, and beyond. You get a creative partner, strategist, and advocate in one.

    • Weekly meetings + ongoing support between sessions

    • In-depth involvement with script, budget, pitch, team, festivals, and more

    • Strategic planning and creative troubleshooting at every phase

    • Optional Executive Producer credit

how does it work?

Weekly or bi-weekly ‘therapy’ sessions are available at $50/hour, conducted via virtual meeting.

All preparation for each session is included and handled on my end.

This rate is intentionally affordable. The session fee is less about profit and more a symbolic, transparent number—a gesture of commitment and mutual investment. It's designed to make professional-level guidance accessible to serious filmmakers, without the gatekeeping or inflated consulting fees often seen in the industry.

ABOUT ME

Originally from Turkey, I am a creative producer with a passion for storytelling and a track record of delivering impactful, festival-recognized work.

I graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a major in Film and TV Production, along with triple minors in Producing, Art History, and the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.

After graduation, I worked on a double desk for two producing managers at Entertainment 360 and reviewed materials, provided creative feedback, and pitched projects on behalf of a client roster of over 80+ clients

I was selected as a Film Independent Project Involve fellow on the producing track in 2023 and produced a 12-min short film, August & Ebony, which had both its world and West Coast premieres simultaneously at MVAFF and HollyShorts on the same weekend.

To date, I have produced over 25 short films, some of which have been showcased at festivals worldwide, including Oscar-qualifying SXSW, HollyShorts, and RiverRun.

Highlights include Sunflower making the Oscars longlist and Survived By receiving multiple nominations and winning the Audience Award at the 2024 Dances With Films.
